Online OT: Our Approach

Malone Therapy’s paediatric occupational therapists offer online OT sessions that support children with motor skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, attention, and daily living skills – all delivered through secure telehealth occupational therapy. Telehealth paediatric occupational therapy is still play‑based and child‑led, using games, movement, and real‑world tasks to build confidence and independence. Occupational therapy and telehealth work together by bringing support into your child’s natural environments, such as the kitchen table, bedroom, or backyard. This makes it easier to problem-solve common challenges like getting dressed, sitting for homework, managing meltdowns, or joining in play with siblings and friends.

How Telehealth OT Sessions Work

In OT telehealth sessions, your therapist meets with you and your child online, guiding you step‑by‑step through activities using items you already have at home. Telehealth services in occupational therapy might include fine motor tasks (drawing, cutting, using cutlery), gross motor and balance games, sensory strategies, and visual supports to make routines more predictable. Sessions are interactive and collaborative: your therapist demonstrates, coaches, and adjusts in real time while you and your child practise. Families can combine online OT with in‑clinic paediatric occupational therapy in Gympie and are able to keep working towards goals between sessions using the Malone Therapy child development app.

Telehealth OT for Different Needs

Telehealth in occupational therapy is suitable for many children, including those with ASD, ADHD, developmental delay, anxiety, or sensory processing differences who may feel more comfortable engaging from home. OT online can support goals such as calmer regulation, improved coordination, stronger school participation, and more independent self‑care. Online occupational therapy also works well alongside paediatric speech therapy, giving families a coordinated approach across communication, sensory processing, and daily living. If your child needs flexible support that fits around family life, school hours, and travel time, telehealth OT offers an effective, accessible way to keep therapy consistent and child‑centred.
